Marriage is at the core of African culture. I think this is perhaps the key element that is missing from the lives of Africans in the diaspora especially in North America. There is not much emphasis placed on marriage and raising a family as there should be. We need to reclaim our African minds and regain our values. I believe the overall system and media and television plays a huge role in our current mindset and social conditioning with respect to our feelings about marriage and that needs to change.
Our strength comes from our unity and it begins with restoring the black family. This is balance and the African way...
I Agreed. And the funny thing is, in the 'conscious community' I've noticed that very few of the so-called leaders have shown themselves to be solid family men/women. Most of them who have been married have been divorced/separated, some with pretty ugly situations going on.
