This is some how awkward: In ARAB World Health Organization has urged against consuming camel urine, milk and meat that has not been properly cooked, in a bid to curb the spread of the MERS. It is believed that the virus originated from animals before they were transmitted to humans.
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (Mers) which also results from the consumption of camel urine has killed hundreds in the Middle east and South Korea.
It is surprising to see people drinking camel urine, and this is common in the middle east.
Metro gathered that some people apparently think it helps them cure their health problems. In accordance with a passage in Muslim holy book that exalts its virtues.
‘Some people of ‘Ukl or ‘Uraina tribe came to Medina and its climate did not suit them,’ the extract reads.
‘So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (Milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine).
‘So they went as directed and after they became healthy…’
But, WHO has issued a warning against this practice in response to the infection of a 75-year-old man thousands of miles to the west, in Oman, last week. The man is reported to own “a barn with camels and young calves, and [have] frequent contact with them”.
